Quote #3: Middle of Chapter 2
The Cunninghams never took anything they can't pay back-no church baskets, and no scrip stamps. They never took anything off of anybody, they get along on what they have. They don't have much, but they get along on it.
This quote from the book describes some of the type of people that lived during The Great Depression. The Cunninghams know that they aren’t very rich and that in fact they are one of the poorest families in Maycomb, but they still want to keep their pride. So they won’t take any offers or donations from anyone. I think this is because they hold their pride so close, and they think if they accept anything that they know they can’t give back in full, that they will lose all that pride. And that they have let themselves down that they weren’t prepared for such a disaster to their family.

i completly agree with your annaylis
i personally like atticus the best because he is more of the all knowing person who everyone comes to for information or for insight on things.
i honestly cant tell you the answer to the second question because its too early to tell
1. This quote shows how honorable the Cunninghams are, as they do not take anything they can't pay back. It also shows how poor people like the Cunninghams lived in the aftermath of the Great Depression, as it hit everyone hard.
2. I personally like Scout because she isn't afraid to be herself and to show that she is a tomboy. I also like how she stands up for herself, instead of just shrinking back and dealing with whatever is thrown her way.
3. I think that Scout will never grow up to be a lady, I think that throughout the book we will continue to see the perkiness that Scout has.
